SCIN 101 Integrated Sciences I. 4 Credits

Introduces students to science's foundational concepts and methodologies through an interdisciplinary approach, integrating physical science and earth and space science; including lab. Emphasis is placed on developing a conceptual understanding supported by critical thinking and higher-order skills. Through this framework, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of natural sciences and their applications to real-world phenomena. While the course is concept-focused rather than calculation-heavy, basic algebra skills are required for specific tasks related to scientific inquiry and data analysis.

SCIN 289 Scientific Inquiry. 1 Credit

Prerequisite(s): Consent of instructor.
1cr. Provides students with an overview of scientific inquiry and reasoning. Students will gain insights into a variety of scientific fields and the methods used in those fields. Students will be introduced to these topics through reading primary scientific literature from a broad sampling of science disciplines. Provides students opportunities to learn about current research in various scientific fields by attendance at seminars presented by science faculty, guest speakers, or classmates. It is recommended that students take this course prior to any Research or Internship credit.

1cr. Integrates and synthesizes knowledge and experience developed through the Broadfield Science curriculum. Students will present their research or internship experiences through various kinds of scientific communication. Provides students with continued opportunities to learn about research in various scientific fields.
