CSTN 120 Carpentry Bscs & Rough-In Frmg. 4 Credits

Introduces the carpentry trade, including history, career opportunities, and requirements. This course covers a variety of building materials, fasteners, and adhesives. It also covers installation procedures for windows and exterior doors. Skills required for framing a simple structure are studied and practiced.

Introduces students to the materials and methods for sheathing, exterior siding, stairs, and roofing. Students will lay out and build a simple stair system. Includes instruction in interior finishing materials and methods for interior doors and trim, flooring, cabinets, countertops, and fixtures.

Covers trade specific symbols found on construction drawings. Provides introduction to state and local laws and regulations related to construction.
