MUSC 515 Modern Composition. 2 Credits

Prerequisite(s): Must have completed the music theory sequence, upper divisional juries, and a senior recital.
2cr. Use composition techniques of composers of all genres throughout the 20th century to present. Students will learn to utilize idiomatic techniques to compose and orchestrate multiple works appropriately for various styles and genres. Final projects must be performed and recorded by a university ensemble or professional ensemble under the direction of the graduate student.

MUSC 576 Modern Music Production. 2-4 Credits

Prerequisite(s): MUST 275 and MUST 375.
V2-4cr. Continue knowledge growth and advanced techniques of desktop production and MIDI sequencing. Using the software tools Logic Pro, Dorico and Ableton Live, students will learn advanced techniques in MIDI and sound synthization. Students will complete fully produced works, including recording, editing, sampling, mixing, mastering for national release.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of advanced music classes at 300 and 400 level and 4 upper division applied lesson classes at 300 level.
V1-4cr. (1-4 lec/1-8 other/wk) Provides graduate level students an opportunity to intensively investigate topics pertinent to their emphasis or focus in the field of music creation and performance.
